Mollusks

Mollusks make up the largest group of water animals, and some varieties are foundin the Laurel Lake area. Mollusks are soft bodied animals having no bones. They include snails, mussels, slugs, clams, oysters, squid, and octopuses.

In other lands, mollusks are eaten by humans as food. Some mollusks are harmful to man.Some varieties of tropical snails carry worms that cause a potentially fatal disease called schistosomiasis.
