When I first bought this CD I was warned that I wouldn't like it. It was "indie rock" and nothing like "Sometimes Friends Fight." You know what, everyone who told me that was right. I put it in my CD player, listened to the first 3 songs and shut it off. The vocals were too whiney and repetitive, and where was the emo-core off their first CD? Anyway, I put it away in my CD shelf. Two months later I took it out to let somebody borrow it, and I had to listen to it again. Yikes! It was good. Not only was it good, it was fantastic. Maybe it's one of those CD's you need time to adjust to. The whiney singing separates Piebald from some of the other emo/indie bands out there (it's kinda in the Joan of Arc vein, but that's where the music differs). Even though they don't sound at all like their first CD, "When Life Hands You Lemons" portrays their talent very well. With songs like "One Hundred Percent Good," "Our Very Own Employment Office," and "The Sea and a Lifesaver" I don't know how I could not have listened to it for a couple months. Two guitars, a bass, and a drum. Amazing.
