This is the battle flag of the 2nd Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters. We can only imagine that the 1st Battalion's flag must have closely resembled this flag but since no flag of the 1st battalion survived the war it is impossible to know for sure. The 2nd also fought along with the 1st in many of the same battles. The flag here was issued in Dalton, Ga. on December 1863 and made at the Augusta Depot. Maybe the flag of the 1st Battalion's will surface one day just as this one did.
