About the Artist

Aloha!

My name is Sandy, which is "Kani" in Hawaiian.
I have been working in ceramics for 26 years.
I grew up in Los Angeles, always knowing as a child that I would become an artist.
I moved to Hawaii when I was in my 20's, and have lived here for 20 years.
My two beautiful children were born and raised here --
Hawaii has brought me much joy and happiness.

My studio is located in the
Koloko Light Industrial Area
in Kailua-Kona.
My work centers around
popular Hawaiian motifs,
which are incorporated in
lovingly handcrafted pieces
of many descriptions and sizes.

I use natural plants
and flowers in my work,
along with other textures
such as seashells,
woven mats and bark.
All pieces are airbrushed
and painted by hand
in bright and rich colors.

My work is kept as affordable as possible so that it is easy to purchase and fun to give.
All materials are laboratory tested to guarantee that they are safe for use with food.
