  Did You Know?

Special Event

December 1st is the World AIDS Awareness candlelight memorial to be held in front of the Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN at 7:00pm.  Refreshments to follow with a discussion led by Dr. Greg Wilson, from Vanderbilt Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinic.  The public is invited and encourage to attend.  We hope for a big turnout and the weather to cooperate.

We offer services to any children who are infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS in the seven counties of middle Tennessee.  Most contacts are through Vanderbilt Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinic and/or parent request.  We are only a phone call away and folks know they can depend on us.

Often we can help refer TennCare and/or mental health problems.  If it is for the parent and/or caregiver, they are referred to appropriate agencies that help resolve adult problems.

We provide over the counter medicines and prescription medicines not covered by insurance or TennCare.  We provide basic necessities such as Tylenol, cough syrups, ear drops and etc.  The medicines are dispensed through Vanderbilt Clinic and/or pharmacies.  We also provide meals for the parent when the child has to be hospitalized.  This helps speed the recovery for the child.

We visit the children when they are hospitalized or if they are homebound.  They receive cards and gifts when we know they are ill.  KFA is there for support.

Other items provided are:

Treasure box treats for clinic days.

Birthday gifts.

Frequent pizza parties for socialization, with whole families being included.

Hospital gifts to ALL children on holidays at both Vanderbilt and Maury Regional Hospital.

Many miscellaneous services as requested by the Clinic and/or parent.

Free literature to the public.

Winter coats, boots as needed by the families.

We are a non-profit, community based organization, run solely by volunteers.  We rely on private donations and fundraisers to help subsidize the two small grants we receive.

We are active in all the communities, as the events and opportunities are presented.  We are able to do speaking engagements to enlighten the communities.

How can you help? We are always looking for people interested in helping us make children happy.  If you or someone you know would like more information contact us at 931/840-3533 or fax 931/381-8913.  Our meetings are always the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm.  All meetings are open to interested parties.

We can use lots of help with deliveries, crafts, donations and fundraisers.  Thank you for your interest KIDS FIGHTING AIDS, INC.
