Ida Margaret Drottz

was born Aug 3, 1899 and died Sep 2, 1986 in Polk County, IA.  She was one of 12 children, all born in IA.  Her parents were Carl Simon Drottz and Phoebe R. Bell. (As some of Ida's siblings are still alive I will not post their names).

Phoebe R. Bell

was born October 30, 1879  and died March 9, 1939.  Info indicates that Phoebe was from Alresford, near Colchester, England, near the North Sea.   She is buried in Rising Sun Cemetary, Four Mile Township, Polk County, Iowa.[Conflicting info suggests Phoebe was born in 1877 or 1878]

Carl Simon Drottz

was born January 5, 1873 in Ostergotland, Sweden, immigrated 1877, died March 28, 1959 in Polk County, Iowa; and was buried in Rising Sun Cemetary, Rising Sun, Iowa.   His parents were Carl Jacob Drottz and Lovisa Nilsdotter.

Carl Jacob Drottz
was born 1842 in Gammalkil, Ostergotland, Sweden, died July 14, 1926 in Des Moines, IA, and is buried in Woodland Cemetary in Des Moines.

Carl Jacob's father is indicated to be Carl Magnus Carlsson Drotts, born September 30, 1809 in Ulrika parish, Sweden. He had 7 siblings: Maja Lisa (or Maria Elisabet), Anna Sofia, Britta Stina (or Brita Christina), Sara Karolina, Anders Magnus, Klara Frederica, and Samuel Petter.

He married Sara Maria Gabrielsdotter, who was born March 15, 1810 in Kisa parish, Sweden.  Sara's parents were the crofter Gabriel Samuelsson (born 1776 in Kisa) and Stina Persdotter (born 1778 in Kisa) (info re: Kisa household examination rolls for years 1805-1810).

Carl Magnus Carlsson Drotts parents are indicated to be Carl Persson, a farmer born in 1766 in Kallstad parish, Sweden and Lisken Hemmingsdotter, born 1772 in Tjarstad parish, Sweden (re Ulrika household examination rolls for the years 1806-1815).

Lovisa Nilsdotter

was born February 27, 1849 in Sweden, died April 25, 1934 at the Swedish Old Peoples' Home, Boone, IA and buried in Woodland Cemetary, Des Moines.   Her parents were Nelson Carlson and Maria Carlson.

I have come into contact with descendants of Harry Simon Drottz and Carl William Drottz, two of Ida Drottz' brothers, as well as Samuel Peter Drottz, youngest brother of Carl Jacob Drottz. Meeting these new Drottz family members has been wonderful.

Tie in lines through Carl Simon Drottz and Phoebe Bell's children include:
