Kiona-Benton vs. Hanford

The Bears will invade Hanford highschool this weekend in their first dual of the year. The Falcons and Bears will be meeting for the first time since the Bears won 40-35 in 1999. Ki-Be has won three straight from Hanford dating back to 1997. These two teams have met 16 times with the Bears holding a 9-7 advantage.

Results of the last 5 meetings:

1999Ki-Be 40-35
1998Ki-Be 49-12
1997Ki-Be 55-21
1999Hanford 51-27
1999Ki-Be 39-33

Next year has finally arrived for Sergio Avila, Ramon DelAngel, Josh Corke, Josh Corriell and Cody Roos. Avila will be looking to rebound from an 0-2 at state. Sergio begins this season just 23 wins shy of becoming the 4th wrestler in Ki-Be history to win 100 matches. Corriell wants to show that he is ready to move into the elite group. Corke, Roos and DelAngel narrowly missed a trip to state as each placed 6th at regionals last season. All five of these wrestlers have what it takes to get to state. This will also be the first test to see what other wrestlers are ready to move up.

Junior Francisco Gonzalez (119) placed 6th at state for the Falcons last season. I have no clue as to what weights everyone will be wrestling at, but Gonzalez vs. Avila sounds like a good match. The Bears have not had a losing dual season in 11 years. A victory over Hanford would get the Bears off on the right foot.
