The Bears now hold a 5-4 advantage in career matches with East Valley. Kameron Hopkins gave East Valley an early lead of 4-0 before the Bears rolled off 5 straight wins, including 3 pins, to take a 27-4 lead.

Brandon Ashley and Scott Thompson had a tight match at 103. Brandon defeated Scott twice last season, 7-5 in a dual and also at district. This time Thompson got the better of Brandon, winning 8-7. The 103 weight class will be a dogfight at district between Thompson, Ashley and AJ DeLeon of Othello.

Jerry Haug took care of business at 125 with a pin. Ryan Burns solidified his rankings a bit in the 130 weight class with a close 7-5 victory over Jake Nester.

Junior Gonzalez, Josh Corke, Justin Rolland and Josh Corriell kept the ball rolling for the Bears with pins. Josh Corke's pin was his team leading 11th of the season. Josh Corriell improves to 20-0 and looks like he is determined to remain unbeaten this year.

Hector Gonzalez saw his first varsity action of the year, losing a decision to Mick Gause. The Bears travel to the Grandview tournament this weekend and take on the always strong, Connell Eagles next thursday.
