132 - Matthew McCallum - 3-0, 1st
On to the Dome
Matthew wrestled 2 of the best matches of his career. First he beat Cortes Hernandez of Zillah 5-3 with a late takedown with 5 seconds to go in regulation. Then he beat state champ Danny Barajas (119-2011) of Royal City, 7-5 after Barajas had gotten the lead on the first takedown. Matthew recorded the last 3 takedowns to win his third SCAC Regional title to tie him for the most in Ki-Be History with Travis Knutson and Ale DeLaPena.
138 - Kale Setzer - 2-2, 1pin, 4th
On to the Dome
Kale started the tournament off with a pin and then led over Diego Hernandez of Zillah but the match ended with Setzer getting pinned. Unfortunately the next match pitted Setzer and Matarazzo with only the winner advancing to state. Setzer won 10-0 and then lost a tough match to Zach Moser of Naches to take 4th.
138 - Seth Matarazzo - 1-3, 1pin, 6th Seth wrestled and inspired match against Trevor Mianecki of Royal City but then lost to teammate Setzer and finished 6th.
152 - Kris Young - 2-2, 5th Kris destroyed his first opponent 14-3 and was leading against the #1 West seed Fabian Ruiz of Mabton before losing and dropping to the consolation round. Kris lost a hard fought 4-3 match to Burbank's Tucker Simonton and then defeated Mario Herrera of Wahluke in OT to take 5th. Young could wrestle at state if someone from the SCAC Region can't wrestle at state.
160 - Josue Lucatero - 0-2 Josue finishes off his High School career with a fine season and a trip to regionals
170 - Cruz DelAngel - 3-0, 2pins, 1st
On to the Dome
Cruz was unstoppable again as he destroyed his competition and topped it off with a 55 second pin in the finals. We did see one thing that we hardly ever get to see with Cruz, an entire 6 minute match as he won 13-2 in the semi-finals over Connor Briggs of Cle-Elum. Cruz is unbeaten in 35 straight matches and will be a force to reckoned with at State.
170 - Alex Baumgartner - 0-2 Alex gained valuable experience the regional tournament that will carry over into next year
195 - Todd Riley - 3-1, 3rd
On to the Dome
Todd had the 3 toughest wins of the tournament for Ki-Be with a 5-3 first round win followed by a 7-2 consolation semi-final win and then beat Connell's Greg Heinen 4-2. This was a great reverse over the SCAC East District final in which Heinen pinned Riley.
220 - Cody Zyph - 2-1, 2pins, 2nd
On to the Dome
Cody made quick work of his first two opponets with pins and then got the opening takedown agains Curtsinger of Naches only to fall into a pin in the first round. Cody should do well at Mat Classic and the other 220 pounders better be ready to wrestle him or the match will be over soon.
220 - Dallon Grinder - 2-2, 1pin, 4th
On to the Dome
Dallon's magical post-season continues as he squeaked out a 6-5 decision over Eric Huesca of Mabton in round 1. With his win, the Bears were assured of one state spot at 220 as Zyph and Grinder wrestled each other in the semi-finals. Zyph pinned Grinder, but Grinder then pinned his opponent in the consolation semi's to advance to state. An illegal throw against his 3rd place match opponent resulted in a loss and a 4th place finish.
285 - Corey Brumbaugh - 2-2, 1pin, 5th Corey gave it his all and just missed going to state losing a heartbreaker to Jeremiah Atkins of Zillah in the consolation Semi's. Corey will be missed on the team next year. He may be able to wrestle at state if another 285 pounder is unable to go.

Girls Regionals

Britnee Cook (3-1, 1pin, 3rd) - Britnee recorded 3 straight consolation round wins to advance to the Mat Classic. She could come away with a medal if she wrestles like she can at State.
On to the Dome

Jessica Rolland (2-2, 2pins, 4th) - Jessica missed a State trip by 2 points losing 7-5 to an Othello wrestler in the Semi-Finals. She made it to the consolation finals before getting pinned and will go to state as an alternate.

Alicia Prado (2-2, 2pins, 4th) - Alicia will also go as an alternate after recording 2 pins on her way to a 4th place finish.
