Other Deaf Mime Artists:

  • Bronislaw Machalski, "Miko", the Great Polish mime, now in California
  • Deaf Gypsy Mime Company, founded in the 1980's by mimes Ron Zeigler, Patricia Hildebrand and Sherry-Lee Hunter
  • Max-i-mime featuring Max Fomitchev, Max-i-mime uses classic mime techniques of flexibility and strength, combined with physical comedy and expression. In 1991, Max Fomitchev moved from his native Moscow to live in Vancouver, Canada where he continues to perform at festivals, parties, and schools across the nation.
  • Arun Kumar Saxena, a deaf mime artist in India.
  • Bill Carwile has been a mime since 1978 and has performed on stage and in classrooms across the United States. He spent three months in Marceau's Paris school (International Mime School). Since that time, he has kept a busy schedule performing throughout the United States.

Deaf Who Trained in Mime:

  • Bernard Bragg, an internationally known actor, director, playwright, teacher and lecturer, Bernard Bragg was born deaf into a deaf family. He studied mime with Marcel Marceau in Paris in the early 1950's. Returning to America, he went on to help found the Tony Award-winning National Theatre of the Deaf in the late 1960's. Bragg has performed on television and Broadway. Bernard created Visual Vernacular technique in mime/sign genre.
