David Schwimmer

During the first season (1994-95) of "Friends," David Schwimmer's performance as Ross, gave him an Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

He was born in Queens, New York but raised in Los Angeles. His first shot at acting was when he enrolled in a high school drama class. After he finished the course, the instructor invited him to attend a summer acting program in Chicago at Northwestern University.

When he graduated from high school, Schwimmer returned to Northwestern and recieved a B.S. degree in theater/speech. Schwimmer and seven other Northwestern graduates founded Chicago's Lookingglass Theater Company (which is a group of actors, writers, directors, and designers) in 1988. They were dedicated to create new works for the American Stage. David says that the company (which is now 20 members) "has a different combination of talent."

Schwimmer has many stage credits including "West," "In the Eye of the Beholder," "The Master of Margarita," "One of Blood," and "The Odessey."

In 1993, Schwimmer was cast in his first television role as a regular on "Monty." Other small-screen credits are guest roles on "NYPD Blue," "L.A. Law," and "The Wonder Years."

His big-screen credits include "The Pallbearer," "Twenty Bucks," "Crossing the Bridge," and "Since You've Been Gone." Most recently he starred in "Kissing A Fool," and "Six Days, Seven Nights," with Harrison Ford and Anne Heche. He just finished filming for "Picking Up The Pieces" with Woody Allen where he plays a priest.

Schwimmer likes to play ping-pong, basketball, softball and poker with his friends. He lives in Los Angeles and Chicago. His birthday is November 2.
