The Show!

Friends is a show about 6 people in their late 20s to early 30s who live in New York. It stars Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.

As the first show on NBC's "Must See TV" Thursday night line up, Friends remains to be one of the most popular shows. Now going into it's 6th season it's ratings have climbed and gained acceptance. Each week, most of the time, Friends rates 2nd under ER on the Neilson Ratings chart.

Since the debut of Friends in 1994-95, it has received an amazing 20 Emmy nominations, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series. The cast won a Screen Actors Guild award in 1996 for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Comedy Series.

The show focuses on a close group of friends who much of the time gather at each others apartments and also spend a lot of their time at a coffee house called Central Perk. Monica Geller (Cox) is a..chef...sort of with a huge obsession with neatness and organization of everything in her life. Her roomate Rachel Greene (Aniston) is Monica's high school best friend who was used to living off her dad's money but was forced to cut all her credit cards in the pilot episode by the 5 friends. She worked at Central Perk as a waitress for awhile but then got her dream job in fasion.

Monica's older brother Ross Geller (Schwimmer) had a serious crush on Rachel since high school and they had an off again on again relationship. He was married but then was dumped by his wife, Carol, when she realized that she was a lesbian. They has a son named Ben. Ross married girlfriend Emily in London but that blew up in his face when he said Rachel's name at the altar. He most recentlt married Rachel, drunk...

Living across the hall from Rachel and Monica are Joey Tribbiani (LeBlanc) and Chandler Bing (Perry). They are roomates. Joey is an actor who does not seem to get very good jobs-from Pinnochio to Al Pacino's 'butt-double'. He did however get a part on "Days of Our Lives" as Dr. Drake Ramoray...until he fell down an elevator shaft. He loves women, sports New York and himself most of all! Chandler is a person who cracks many dumb jokes which he says is a result of his parents divorce. The 'ditziest' member of the 6 friends is Phoebe Buffay (Kudrow), who is a folk singer at Central Perk and is also an Aroma Therapist/Masseuse.
