Tuesday,
March 12th, 2002:
Here we are, another day without my phone and internet service. What's
a guy to do?
Normally it wouldn't be an overly bad situation, but when no one knows
our phone service is down and thinks no one is home instead, that's when
it becomes a problem.
I tested out calling my home phone from my cell phone, just to hear what
others would hear, and all I get is the phone ringing and ringing and
ringing, yet the home phone that's supposed to be ringing, sits silent.
I think I mentioned this in yesterday's entry.
I made another call to Bell Canada today and this time told them to fix
it because apparently it has something to do with our line and not everyone
else in the area. Perhaps one or two others may be experiencing this problem,
but the family that lives a couple of houses down from me aren't having
problems, so hmmmm.
So Bell said they'd do some signal test from their central office to see
if it's a problem with they're system. If not, I have to wait yet another
day for them to send someone out to check around my house. This is not
good, but what can you do, right?
The
only "good" thing about this downtime is that I'm able to catch
up on my updating, even though I can't upload them at this point in time,
though by the time you're reading this, the problem will have been solved,
obviously.
I've
also started thinking about how much I could save on my phone bill and
my Internet service bill due to this problem. Normally that's not be any
concern an Internet provider since it's not their fault, but since my
service is with the same phone company, it's all tied together, so I can
probably put in a claim for a refund for a few days. I figure it'll only
result in a couple of dollars combined, but still, I'll take every opportunity
to stick it right back to them when I get the chance because they both
love to gouge me every chance they get.
Perhaps
I'll go start a new book today, unless something else crops up and I just
have to document right here!
