QUESTIONING AN EXPERT (for Cerpio Clan)

1) Building my feudal army quick enough to not get into trying to defend against a larger group of attackers (don't we all have problems with this?).

Keep in mind that if you feudal later he will have a bigger army at same time but if you feudal at same time the trick is to keep queuing army, as soon as a skirmisher is build, build next one. Don't let his army take control of you. To be able to queue you must have a good economy so train on that. Play some singleplayer games, try to keep queueing out of 2 archerys while you keep making villagers, afterwards when you succeed, try to put the barracks into it by making spears because just skirms might be dangerous. You can also try with a barracks, an archery and a stable, just use those buildings, dont let them be idle.

2) Organizing my attack so that my army is effective during a flush. Knowing where/when to attack.

Where? Hit his weekest spots of his economy: woodcutters, goldminers, stone miners.... Since farms are close to the TC this wont be optional, exept in late feudal when he has like 40 farms. Hit his economy and make his army chace yours. If you see you will win vs his army, then attack, else run and wait for reinforcements. (keep queueing) If you got no place to run or to dangerous to get slaughtered, find high hill and fight from there. If you still lose the battle you do got as much kills to slow him down a little and prevent him from coming to your base.

When? As soon as you have an army that can't be killed by 4 villagers or so, kinda useless to send it. Don't only send spears, few scouts can hit your army bad. Other way to attack or play is: keep gathering skirmishers in your base while sending scouts to raid him. Hit lonely/wounded villagers and run. 1 scout can't take all those woodcutters but 3 scouts he'll prolly run away from. If he still fights with his villagers, take out one villager and then run. Or come back 1 minute later to take the wounded vill out. After a while he will have spears all over his base then its time to send the skirmishers.

3) Booming.

What can I say about this: making alot of TC's and build villagers out of each TC. You will need to learn this yourself. I have uploaded pictures on this site fo TC placements. The thing is to expand economy as fast as possible but don't forget to attack enemy meanwhile.

4) Labelling my units and keeping new units labelled in my old groups.

I'll explain my labeling: suppose I got 4 spears and 20 skirmishers, spears become number 1 and skirmishers become number 2 (select spears and press CONTROL 1, same for skirmishers but then press CONTROL 2). This makes army control easier, press 1 and click enemy scouts, press 2 and click enemy skirmishers/spears. If you want to put new troops in those numbers: press 1 then press shift and then select the new spears. Now you will have selected all the spears but they arent all in the same group yet. Now press CONTROL 1 to assign all the spears to group number 1

5) Not killing off all my flush units by doing stupid stuff like attacking full towers with skirmishers.

Yeah, you gotta now if you will win or lose the battle, you gotta think fast but in most cases you will know: 20 skirms of you vs 30 skirms of him== run :) He keeps following? Go stand on hill, you might win then but if it isnt working run back to base or so while new troops come join whit the old group, then fight back. Kinda ambush tactic, if he doenst really follow his army you can take him out then. So the thing is to keep queueing army and cotrolling it well. Btw towers full whit skirmishers dont shoot stronger. Skirmishers dont attack from towers only villagers and archers do.

6) Using towers to defend.

Make sure a tower covers a certain area and prevent opponent from building a tower that makes your tower useless.

7) Attacking my opponent while he's attacking me.

Hotkeys make you able to switch screens very fast. If he attacks you with an army that isnt really that dangerous to your economy then you donthave to retreat your army if it is at opponents base. If you dont have forward buildings then the newly created skirmishers etc. should go defend base and give them anohter number. So you switch armys fast by selecting number and pressing SPACE BAR or double click the number.

You will have to practice on this one, if you are fighting on both bases, select 1, press space bar, control or move army, select 5 or so, control or move and then back to 1 (example) Might be much to remember because you meanwhile must queue army and villagers so hotkeys would be a great help to switch to archerys, stable and barracks.

8) Organizing a good feudal or castle age attack when my opponent has lots of castles and towers.

Feudal: when he has towers he puts you in a difficult position to hit his economy, find holes and attack or place towers to in his dead area (area that towers cant hit). Else you will have to castle if he is too well protected. If his towers doesnt cover eachother, you can try to forward few villagers and knock them down while you guard them with skirmishers. Ofcourse not everything can stand next to tower so you will lose some skirmisher but thats ok if you have his tower. Take it down and place tower yourself so he doenst take the area back. I would use this tactic on opponent goldspot mostly to prevent him from castling or build knights when he is castle.

Castle age: towers can easely be taken out whit knights but castles will be harder, even if he doesnt have murder holes it would take to long. You will need siege for this. Make knights to guard your rams but 1 ram is a little useless, make 3 rams and then attack. However, who tells you to take down his defensive castle? You might as well go around it and hit his TC, unless the castle is build at your base and takes out lotsa resources.

9) Dealing with lag when I'm getting my *** kicked.

Nobody likes lag but you just gotta try to make the best of it.

10) Oranizing a good attack when my opponent makes only counter units.

If he only build counter units just raid him, dont go for full attacks like sending 30 knights to his base. Split them into 4 groups and raid from all possible sides. He will go defensive which allows you to expand easier and if you can put castle near his base to retreat knights which will take out his pikemans. If you are scared of his rams, build stone wall around castle. Best way is to wall 3/4 of the castle, the sides into opponent direction. The back can be left open, so you might garrison.
