This filet crochet design is designed for the Crochet List Coaster exchange for the CrochetList mailing list found at http://crochet.rpmdp.com.
Materials: Southmaid Crochet cotton thread, size 10 (True Blue) or color desired
Crochet hook, size 8/1.50MM
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Beginning (beg)
Stitch (st)
Space (sp): Ch 2, skip 2 dc or 2 ch, dc in next dc or ch OR ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc.
Block (bl): 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc or ch OR 2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc.
Stitch Notes:
Work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.
Ch 51.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn (counts as dc on next row and every row).
Row 2: Dc in next 3 dc=block made, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc=space made) 14 times, dc in last 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc=space made) once, (2 dc in sp, dc in next dc=block made) once, (ch 2, dc in next dc) once, (2 dc in sp, dc in next dc) once, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 6 times, (2 dc in sp, dc in next dc) once, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in last 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 4 - 20 : Continue acording to chart. At the end of Row 20, turn and work edging along sides of rows.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in side of next row( Row 20), ch 4, (sc in next row, ch 4) to next corner, sc in bottom of 1st dc along foundation ch, ch 4, (skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 4) to next corner. Work remaining 2 sides to correspond. Join with sl st in beg sc.
Fasten off and sew in ends and lightly press. :)
