This filet crochet design is designed for the Crochet Network Coaster exchange for the Crochetnetwork mailing list found at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3910.
Materials: Southmaid Crochet cotton thread, size 10 (True Blue) or color desired
Crochet hook, size 8/1.50MM
Stitch Notes:
Work odd-numbered rows from right to left and even-numbered rows from left to right.
Ch 48.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn (counts as dc on next row and everyo row).
Row 2: Dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc=space) once, (dc in next 3 dc=block) 3 times, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc) 5 times=5 spaces; (dc in next 3 dc) 3 times, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc) once, dc in last 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in sp, dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc) 2 times, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 5 times, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc) 2 times, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in sp, dc in next dc, dc in last 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 4 - 18 : Continue according to chart. At the end of Row 18, do not turn and do not ch 3. Work edging along sides of rows.
Edging
Rnd : Sl st into side of Row 18, sc in same pl, ch 4, * sc in next row, ch 4, repeat from * to corner. Working along bottom edge (foundation ch) skip 1st dc, sc in next dc, ch 4, **skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 4, repeat from ** to next corner. Work remaining 2 sides to correspond. Join by working a ch-2, hdc in beg sc (this brings thread into position for next rnd.)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same pl as joining, ch 4, * sc in next sp, ch 4, repeat from * around. Join with sl st in beg sc.
Fasten off and sew in ends and lightly press. :
