Appreciation for a New Favor

Li, Yu [ 李煜 ]   (937 A.D.-978 A.D.)

As the guests drift away and go home, the yard becomes vacant. The pearl blinds in the doorway cover half of the magnificent hall. The wind from the woods murmurs during this long, long night. When I turn around in the attic, the crescent moon looks slender. Spring scenery renews every year. However, people become old in vain. When will new sorrow and old regret end? A single sound of the shepherd's flute startles the drunken girl's delighted face. The girl behind the gold window is mentally and physically exhausted. She still feels listless when she awakens.
