Seeing My Friend off

Li, Pai (701 A.D.-762 A.D.)

Green mountains lie beyond the city's north wall.
White water surrounds the eastern part of town.
Here you part from me
Like a lonely dust particle starting its journey of one thousand miles.
You travel from place to place like drifting clouds.
The setting sun speaks of the last moment shared by old friends.
As I wave my hand to send you off,
Our horses neigh as if each were separating with its partner.
