About Us

christianityfish.gif

Our small group was first formed in 2000 after discovering our ethics, morals, and beliefs concerning policy, procedure, animal care, and euthaniasia differed greatly from those of the local humane organization of which we were members and foster care givers.

Our love for and devotion to animals in need led us to form a privately operated rescue organization dedicated to toy breeds, cats, and kittens.

We are a privately operated rescue organization guided by a five member Board of Directors following strict by-laws, policies, and procedures.
We are currently completing the paperwork to become 501(c)3.

Where We Are

We are located in Franklin, Kentucky, off I-65, directly on the KY/TN border, 40 miles north of Nashville, TN, and 20 miles south of Bowling Green, KY.
The areas in which our fosters are adopted are dependent on the needs of each individual adoptee.

What We Do

We accept toy breeds, cats, and kittens from individuals, shelters, and other rescue groups into our homes on a foster care basis until permanant homes can be found.

We welcome transport stop-overs when non-stop travel can not be arranged.

We offer the lifelong retirement of the elderly, as space allows.

We work to rehabilitate abuse and neglect cases until they are happy, healthy, trusting, and ready to move to their forever homes.

The fosters in our home are welcome for any length of time it may take to find the perfect placement. We have no rushed or emergency adoptions.

All adoption applications are reveiwed by a five member Board of Directors. All approvals and denials are based on the vote of this board.

Adoption Restrictions

All Little Feet Fosters are adoptable to indoor homes only.

All Little Feet Fosters require fenced yards.

All other pets in the home must be spayed or neutured.

An excellent vet reference is a must.

No adoptions are approved prior to a home vist by a Little Feet representative.

Little Feet Fosters are never "shipped" and do not travel to their permanant homes by transport. Adoptive parents must be willing to travel to Little Feet's home base to meet the adoptee before he or she will be released into their care.

Little Feet Fosters are never adopted as gifts. You are welcome to pay the adoption fee for a friend or family member, but the "parent" must be the person to fill out the application and go through the adoption process.

Our Adoption Policies:

(a)An adoption application must be submitted and approved before meetings are arranged.

(b) Adoptive parents must be willing to travel to Little Feet home base to meet the adoptee, and agree to a home visit from a Little Feet Representative before an adoption is finalized.

(c) Adoptive parents must be willing to communicate with a Little Feet Rep for a four week adjustment period after adoption. Our fosters are not forgotten when they leave our home. We want to be certain both you and your new family member are happy with one another.

(d) Adoptive parents must sign an agreement stating that if, for any reason, this pet should need new placement, he or she will be returned directly to Little Feet.

(e) Our adoption fees range from $45.00 to $150.00, and are based on medical costs of spay/neuter, and health checks.

*We do not make exceptions to these policies. Please be certain you agree with these five points before applying for adoption.

Our Euthanasia Policies

We at Little Feet R & R believe all life to be precious. We strive to be a no-kill foster care facility, adhering strictly to a Three Point Just Cause concerning euthanasia. It is our policy that this procedure may be deemed necessary only in the event of the following:

1. Inoperable injury causing inhumane suffering, with no possibilty of recovery and eased pain.

2.Untreatable communicable disease which puts others at risk of contamination, illness, or death.

3.Extreme, uncontrollable & untrainable aggression causing risk of injury or death to other animals or humans.

Under no circumstances do we accept lack of placement, limited funding, age, or handicap viable reasons for euthanasia.

Our Euthanasia Procedures

A. The decision to euthanize any animal under the care and protection of Little Feet may at no time be made by an individual without the support of the Board of Directors.

B. This procedure must be discussed and agreed upon by at least two board members in agreement with a reputable veterinarian.

C. In the case of an emergency situation where one or more of the Three Just Causes are present, with only one board member available, the decision to euthanize may be directed by this board member in agreement with a reputable veterinarian.

D. However, in the event step C is needed, the decision must be presented, explained, and proven necessary to the Board at the earliest available opportunity.

Any variation from these policies and procedures will be considered just cause for dismissal from the Board of Directors, and the relinquishment of Little Feet Membership.

We at Little Feet and Feline Feet are dedicated to the protection, care, and placement of toy breeds, cats, and kittens. We support The Humane Society of The United States, the spay/neuter policies of this organization, and developing stricter Federal laws concerning animal cruelty.

All God's Creatures, Great & Small,
Show Compassion For Them All.

Although our group's primary focus is toy breeds, cats, and kittens, we will gladly assist and support all breed rescues devoted to finding loving, forever homes for any of God's creatures.

Please be aware that we ask for and check references before assisitng any rescue that we have no knowledge of or experience with.

As all reputable rescues know, there are many individuals who masquerade as rescues in order to obtain animals for the wrong reasons. We want to be certain we do not give assistance to these individuals.

We hope legitimate rescues will not be offended by this proceedure, and will feel free to contact us if help is needed in our area.
