The Phoenix Institute provides psychotherapy for men, their partners and families. It specializes in treating "men's issues". The primary focus is on helping men recover personal power (emotional energy); get "unstuck"; learn to meet their own needs; and help them develop intimacy.

It is a holistic approach, designed to bring the body, mind, and feelings more fully into the healing process and in recovery, particularly related to the father-son wounds of the past.

All ages, religions, ethnic groups, marital status are eligible. It is an attempt to bridge the gap of men to men; to help men get in contact with feelings in ways acceptable to men; to experience their support; help one another in learning new ways to BE personally, in relation to each other, socially, and to gain acceptance of self.

Dealing with Men's Issues is done through individual and/or group sessions. Sessions are weekly and led by an experienced counselor. They are made by appointment. individual sessions are 50 minutes and group is 1 1/2 hours. Cost is based on a sliding scale and on the type of service. Insurance is accepted. Evening and Saturday appointments are available.

Groups include 5 to 7 men of all ages who are reasonably compatible. This assessment of an individual's readiness will occur before becoming involved in a group. Motivation is primary to the success of therapy and will be discussed during the initial session.
