What Is a Raptor?
Raptors are birds of prey with three specialized adaptations: a sharp hooked beak, grasping feet equipped with sharp talons, and keen, binocular vision. If. Raptors include hawks, eagles, falcons, kites, vultures and owls. The word raptor comes from the Latin word "raptare" meaning to grip or grasp.

What is The Texas Raptor Center?
The Texas Raptor Center is a non-profit organization near Fulshear, Texas that provides rehabilitation, research and conservation for birds of prey. The Texas Raptor Center engages in active community educational programs to raise awareness of the importance of raptors in our environment. The Texas Raptor Center is being funded entirely through private donations. Your donations are tax deductible.

What Is Our Mission?
The mission of The Texas Raptor Center is to preserve biological diversity among raptors and other avian species through medical treatment, education, and management of wildlife populations.

What Can You Do to Help?
Preserve the natural habitat where raptors nest, hunt, and seek refuge. Do not disturb nesting birds -- most are very sensitive to human activity. Remember it is illegal to harm or keep any raptor. Set up nesting boxes for small raptors such as screech, or barn, owls. Support The Texas Raptor Center through donations of time and/or money. Rehabilitation costs include medical treatment, specialized food, caging, supplies, and transportation.
