The first Pentium
I bought my first IBM compatible computer when the Pentiums first came out 96, it was a computer that was made to run windows 95, instead of the old windows 3.1, called a Pentium(s) 100 MHz -CPU computer. It had a 1 gig. Hard drive, that was twice the size as the old computers, and was considered fast until the new P-200 MHz -CPU computers came out in 97. So, that year, I upgraded my computer, and the main board to a P(s)-200 MHz computer and it was 21% faster. It was nearly 42%, faster then the old computer after I added all the upgrades, I increased the memory, from 16 RAM, to 64 RAM that made it another 15% faster, when used with Windows-98. Then, I upgraded the L-pipeline cache, from 256 to 512, which made it another 6% faster. In 99, I used Super fast 98, software and it made the hard drive 3.35 times faster. Now, the new computers in 98, are up to 450 MHz -CPU, that's around six times faster than the P-200 is.
I have heard of 14 gigabyte hard drives, a quantum leap forward to 1,000 MHz -CPU, that might be as high as 6,400 MHz in the future. My computer is ready for Windows-2000, because, it already has 64 Meg.'s of RAM, to meet the necessary requirements.
A clone, with a good main board, is the easiest to upgrade, and more affordable. May be, the main difference in Windows 2000, is the size of the space needed on the hard drive.
Computers have changed from black and white, to color monitors. They have higher pixels for better graphics, and faster modems.
