Background
For many years amidst the frenetic pace of 24/7 hi tech life at KAO
Infosystems, my employer had a policy requiring a detailed
report to be circulated the day following a business trip. Part
of the working culture in Japanese business is to proactively
communicate automatically and in writing, unless there is a specific
reason not to. So naturally, this kind of forward thinking made its way
into subsidiaries. Here in North America however, we seem to
resist this, and usually would never actually write down a detailed
summary! (Sir Humpfrey Appleby of BBC's "Yes,
Prime Minister" fame would be justifiably proud)
Well, I must confess that when working on
my own time, I'm getting a bit slow in doing my Trip Reports.
Yet I still do them, because I think that someone, somewhere, will
enjoy a little bit of what they read. Sure there are lots of sites
and stories out there. Sure there are stories better composed
and written. This time though, perhaps a certain part of these
reports will resonate with you in particular, and cause you to take a
leap of faith and plan a trip. Get Out More. Or as
the advertising caption says "Just Do It."
