PAST

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan. The oldest daughter in a family that consisted of five boys and three girls, Madonna was named after her mother and nicknamed, "Little Nonni." Her and her family resided in Pontiac, Michigan.

1976 Upon graduation from high school in 1976 and with little more than encouragement from brother Christopher Flynn,(and $35.00 in her pocket) Madonna boarded a plane for New York City. Madonna at that time walked away from a full four year scholarship to the University of Michigan.

1983 "Everybody," a moody, funky, Latin-flavored dance tune helped her land a recording contract, though the single went nowhere on the charts.

In July of 1983 her first album, MADONNA was released, produces by Jellybean. The first single from that album was "Holiday." Released in December.

1984 Other hits from the album included "Borderline" and "Lucky Star."

1985 The breakthrough year for Madonna! "Like a Virgin" was the number one song in the country for the whole month of January and would remain on the charts for several months. The second album was also heading for #1 on the album charts. "Material Girl," was the next single from the album. In April Madonna hit the silver screen with Desperately Seeking Susan. Other singles out this year: "Crazy for You," and "Into the Groove." Madonna's first tour: "The Virgin Tour"

1986 The third album "True Blue" was released in July and garnered the singer's best notices to date. Singles from that album: "Pappa Don't Preach," and "Live to Tell."

1987 Single from True Blue album "Open your Heart" released, Madonna's third #1 single. Madonna filmed "Who's That Girl." Also, at this time put out her fourth album, the "Who's That Girl" soundtrack. Singles from that album to include; "Who's That Girl," and " Causing a Commotion." Madonna sets out for her second tour "Who's That Girl World Tour."

1988 Madonna takes off this year. No new album, no tour, no movies. The only new Madonna product was the home video release of "Madonna: Ciao Italia!"

1989 Madonna releases her fifth album "Like a Prayer. Singles from that album: "Like a Prayer," "Express Yourself," and "Cherish."

PRESENT

1990 March: "Vogue" is released as a single. Rockets to #1!!!!!! April: Madonna's second World Tour, "Blond Ambition," launched in Japan. May: "I'm Breathless," soundtrack to the movie "Dick Tracy," in which Madonna plays Breathless Mahoney, is released. Single on that album, "Vogue," reaches #2!! November: Sire records release "The Immaculate Collection." December: "Justify My Love," is released as a single. The video is banned by MTV and released in the home video market and sells over 500,000 copies!!!!

1991 January: "Justify My Love," hits #1!!!! June: Madonna begins filming "A League of Their Own." November: Rumors of Madonna having AIDS circulate. December: Madonna appears at the AmFAR Benefit in L.A. and denying that she has AIDS. She receives the group's Award for Courage.

1992 January: Rumors of Madonna getting the part of "Evita." Madonna is also signed for her first dramatic role in the thriller "Body of Evidence." July: "A League of Their Own" comes out , starring Madonna. September: Madonna becomes the subject of study at Harvard, Princeton, and UCLA in pop culture. October: Madonna celebrated the release of her highly conterversial book, "SEX" November: It took Madonna 10 years, but she finally made the record everyone has accused her of making all these years.... "Erotica" takes the world by storm

1993 February: The movie, "Body of Evidence," comes out. October: Rolling Stone did the best videos of all time, six of Madonna's videos rated in the top 100--more than any other artist or band. #10 "Express Yourself" #20 "Like A Prayer" #24 "Borderline" #28 "Vogue" #43 "Justify My Love" #66 "Oh Father" November: The "Girlie Show" tour makes way in front of 72,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. December: Madonna plays Sarah Jennings in the movie "Dangerous Game"

1994 March: Madonna appears on David Letterman and has a unforgettable conversation with Letterman. Madonna goes on to say, "Urinating in the shower helps prevent athlete's foot." Could that be true? December: The release of the album "Bedtime Stories"

1995 October: Madonna plays in the movie "Blue in The Face," as a cameo delivering a singing telegram.

1996 March: Madonna arrives in Argentina to start filming "Evita." October: Madonna gives birth to her daughter Lourdes Maria December: "Evita" is released and so is the soundtrack

1998 MADONNA'S NEW ALBUM "RAY OF LIGHT," HITS THE STORES WITH A HINT OF NEW SPIRIT, NEW MUSIC,AND NEW LIFE FOR MADONNA.

September: Madonna takes home six MTV Video Music Awards. BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR, BEST FEMALE VIDEO, BEST DIRECTION IN A VIDEO, BEST EDITING IN A VIDEO, BEST CHOREOGRAPHY IN A VIDEO ALL FOR,"RAY OF LIGHT", "FROZEN" ALSO HAD AN AWARD FOR BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS IN A VIDEO

FUTURE

THE FUTURE IS ALWAYS OPENED UP BY MADONNA WITH NEW THINGS. EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SOMETIMES SHOCKING, MADONNA WILL ALWAYS HAVE A GRASP OF THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE AND WHAT PEOPLE ARE REALLY THINKING INSTEAD OF PRETENDING.............
