Magnum Opus, meaning a splendid work, is an inter-school cultural festival organized by the students of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar. The first Magnum Opus was held on 10th November, 1995 in  connection with the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra. Fourteen schools participated in this mega event, including two schools from Trivandrum and Kottayam. This is the fourth consecutive year that Magnum Opus is being held. Magnum Opus 1998 will be held on November 18th at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar. Following last year’s tremendous success, it is expected that more than 20 schools would participate in this year’s grand event.    
 
The prestigious Magnum Opus ever-rolling trophy was won by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala last year. Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elammakkara were the runners-up. 
 
 A variety of attractive competitions is planned to be held in the various fields of art, dramatics & literature. The exciting Fashion Show and Antakshari, which were the two most popular events last year, will be held this year too.  
 
Magnum Opus ’98 has the distinction of being the First School Cultural Festival with a presence on the Internet. All details regarding the competition will be put up on the Magnum Opus Home Page.
