About Mainframe_Chaos

A long time ago, I started a ReBoot website, mostly to show my appreciation and awe of ReBoot as well as learning some new skills. Actually, that's not entirely true. My ReBoot site started as a small webpage on AngelFire. It was part of a project that I had to do for mycomputer class back in grade six. It was a very crappy page, especially since I didn't really know what the heck I was doing! But after I got the hang of the webpage-making thing a little bit, I continued to expand my ReBoot site for the reasons stated at first. Eventually I moved the site over to Tripod because it gave me more space (11 megs! Wow! Now I get 50!) and I found the editing program on Tripod easier to use. I've since stopped using those programs and have moved from notepad, to FrontPage, to Dreamweaver, and now Adobe GoLive (very awesome! But I still use FrontPage a bit).

I don't remember why I used the name Mainframe_Chaos for the website, I just did. I've stuck with it ever since, and I've got to admit it's grown on me.

After a bit, I ended up joining a ReBoot mailing list (know as "The List") and I met lots of cool people, and saw new websites, and got mine known quite a bit! But after a while (couple of years later?), the older members started fading away as all these newbies came along and began to discuss everything that we'd already discussed a million times. The list had moved onto a new "generation" of ReBoot fans. I hope they've enjoyed that list as much as I did.

My website eventually gained an extensive sound archive, a few ReBoot clips, and several images. I got quite a few hits for all of that media goodness, but I had gotten in over my head. I didn't know how to maintain such a website, and keep it fresh and interesting. Sadly, the site started to fade and deteriorate away, with occasional face lifts, but nothing really new.

But now, Mainframe_Chaos has gotten a new look, and has evolved into what it is today. It's been quite a journey, and hopefully the road ahead will be less bumpy, and paved all the way, but only time will tell for this ancient website.

Speaking of ancient, some have wondered when Mainframe_Chaos was created, I honestly have no idea. I know it's older than 3 years, but I don't think it's been around too long... So I'm going to take a guess and say it was created on March 15th, 1998. If anyone knows the actual date, please e-mail me and let me know! Well, now that we "know" when Mainframe_Chaos was created, that means a birthday it coming up soon! Mainframe_Chaos' 4th Birthday is coming up on March 15th, 2002! Isn't that exciting! We should have a party of some kind! Get some new media to celebrate, maybe some new fanart and fanfic from all you talented people out there! Mainframe_Chaos has never celebrated a birthday before, so this one is extra special! Let's all work together to make it a great one!
