"How I Hate the Night"

A short dolorous ditty of no tone, or indeed tune

An MP3 sound file of Marvin singing his lullaby (0.6 MBytes) is available. Because of space and bandwidth limitations, this MP3 sound file is served from my Epizy site.

The lullaby was described in the book Life, the Universe, and Everything by the late Douglas Adams, published in 1982. It was broadcast in October 2004 on BBC Radio 4 in the United Kingdom, split between two episodes, "Fit the Seventeenth" and "Fit the Eighteenth", of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Tertiary Phase. The above performance, by the late Stephen Moore, is taken from the DVD-Video The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: 5.1 Surround Tertiary Phase.

Now the world has gone to bed
Darkness won't engulf my head
I can see by infra-red
How I hate the night

Now I lay me down to sleep
Try to count electric sheep
Sweet dream wishes you can keep
How I hate the night
