Marya's Fantastic
World of
Fishies!
This page is dedicated to my fishtank. As of right now, I only have one fishtank, but a second MUCH larger one is in the works. For now here are my current system stats:
30 gallon glass aquarium
penguin 125 biowheel filter
150watt submersible pennplax heater
seachem ammonia sensorI gave my beneficial bacteria a jumpstart with an ounce of BioSpira. It worked very well, I could see the difference in my tank within 24hrs. I've read alot online that BioSpira has been found to be one of the few "bacteria starters" which really works. It is a bit pricey, and hard to find in many areas of the country, but it's well worth the trouble.
I feed:
NutraMax tropical flakes
Hikari tropical algae wafers
Wardley's freeze-dried tubifex worms.
Supplement with fresh vegetables for the loaches. The only live plant I have in the tank is a bunch of anacharis. It seems to be surviving decently thus far.
Da Fish:
6 danios: 3 gold and 3 zebra. One of the gold ones is MIA at the moment, hmm....
5 neon tetras: The tank badasses! They are like a roving pack of malicious 12 yr old girls! Pushy and nosey.
1 rubbernose pleco: Rarely makes public appearences, usually just sleeps on his back in his cave.
2 paradise fish: I can't get a bead on these two yet. I think they are both females. I think they could have the potential to unseat the neons. I just hope they don't eat them...
2 fancy guppies: So freaking cute, they are like the lil cheerleaders of the tank. Very sexy boys. I am especially fond of the orange one, as he looks like a Dr.Seuss fish.
4 clown baby loaches: THE BEST! Simply the bestest fish there are. Mine are still very small, when they get a bit bigger they will be moved into a larger tank. Everyone should look up these fun fish for more information because they have a plethora of very "unfish-like" habits. I love the clicking noises they make when eating something yummy! The loaches have been thriving since I got them a little over a month ago. They were less than an inch long when I got them, now the largest is about 2inches long.
