VODKA DRUNKENSKI...

Okay... So making a hack of Soda Popinksi with googly-eyes and bubbles around his head was a way to save time from making a whole different character. But where did the name Vodka Drunkenski come from? Most people don't know about it, but there was a Super Punch-out Arcade game that came out a year after the original Punch-out Arcade. And it had Soda Popinski in it, except that his name was Vodka Drunkenski (Vodka Drunkenski in the Arcade didn't have googly-eyes and bubbles around his head. I just did that on my Phred's Cool Punch-out hack to make him appear drunk). Most people barely remember this arcade game too fondly. I don't remember it at all! (probably because the arcade game came out in 1985... I was only three years old then!) Super Punch-out for the Arcade had Bear Hugger, Dragon Chan, Vodka Drunkenski, Great Tiger and Super Macho Man in it. And surprisingly, Bear Hugger and Dragon Chan look and move the exact same as they do in the Super NES version of Super Punch-out, only with different graphics. I don't know what Super Macho Man looks like in the arcade because I cannot beat Vodka Drunkenski (the controls for the game are extremely shitty. If you've played either of the two arcade games before, then you know what I mean).

Here are a few pictures of Vodka Drunkenski from the original Super Punch-out arcade game.

Even though the arcades are long gone, there is an emulator called MAME that you can play these classic arcade games. You can find MAME at www.mame.com along with a few of the ROMs (games) that go with it.
