Maxine began her travels to the Caribbean in 1971, traveling to Grenada, for the burial of her father. The warmth of the people in consoling her and her family led to return visits to experience life in her father's homeland. She has dedicated her work to portraying Caribbean life as well as her own Caribbean-American experience. |
