The History of the Mayer

Background

Ok, this may not apply to you but here's a little background on John. He was born October 16, 1977 in Bridgport, Connecticut (but grew up in Fairfield). He was the middle child. His older brother is Carl and his younger brother is Ben. He started playing guitar at age 13, after much influence from Stevie Ray Vaughn,  and started playing at clubs at 15. After a semester at Berklee College of Music, he left for Georgia. "I just want to be a rockstar, they didn't have a curriculum for that," says John. His previous bands were Another Roadside Attraction, Villanova Junction, and Lo-Fi Masters. He recorded Inside Wants Out on his own, which has recently been re-released. He then signed w/Aware records (a smaller Columbia outfit) and recorded Room For Squares, which was first released w/ a bonus disk including John's renditions of Jimi Hendrix's Wind Cries Mary, and Stevie Ray Vaughn's Lenny. He has since recorded a live DVD Any Given Thursday; and the follow-up to RFS Heavier Things which debuted at #1 it's first week out.

The Story Of Scotty:
Scotty originally started out by going to John's shows in Atlanta, and just being a big fan. Then he started coming backstage and hanging out w/John,then became John's tour manager for awhile. Now he is the devine author of the Road Journal on www.johnmayer.com which I quite recomend, and takes the pics which you can also look at on the new and improved www.johnmayer.com. In the words of Scotty Crowe,
-"Like broke-ass tupperware, I just can't contain myself."
