All About Bob

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?

- Emily Dickinson

Actually, I'm not "nobody," but sometimes it seems that way. Sometimes perpetually working toward a college degree can leave one feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Fortunately, that's a rare thing for me, as I have a lot of good things in my life that make those hard times a little easier to take. So, who am I?

Well, it's hard to answer that question. Identity in our society has a lot of things attached to it. Often, we are defined largely by what we do for a living, where we're from, and what we like. Well, I can quickly cover those bases, if that will help any.

Right now, I'm not doing much of anything "for a living." I have plans. I have a job as a tutor, but that's not really a living.

I'm also a student at SIUE. I'm majoring in English, while my minor is creative writing.

Update 4/9/01:
I'm graduating magna cum laude! Woohoo!

On to where I'm from, then. I'm from Jerseyville. Since that probably means nothing to you, I'll help you out a little: it's about thirty-something miles north of St. Louis, MO, as the crow flies. I grew up in an area where we use expressions like "as the crow flies."

Finally, there's the whole question of my interests. As one might easily surmise, computers, literature, and writing are right up there at the top of my list. Add music, science fiction, fantasy, Judging Amy, role-playing games, and real-time strategy games, and you might have a fairly good idea of what areas I am interested in.

Aside from all that...hey, I'm happily engaged to a wonderful woman from South Dakota who is now a student at SIUE. You can see pictures of Peggy, her family, and her friends in my photo album if you like...
