Minnesota Chinese Dance Theater

Minnesota Chinese Dance Theater (MCDT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Chinese dance and cultural tradition for the benefits of the Chinese and other local communities in the Twin-Cities. It has served as a window for Chinese dance, encouraged cultural exchanges, and advocated cultural diversity. We are grateful that we have received funding and support from many organizations and individuals.

Since its founding in 1992, MCDT has formulated a rigorous dance program which emphasizes basic training, dance skills, and tradition value of Chinese dance. With an active agenda, MCDT has performed for many organizations, schools, communities, and businesses throughout the Twin-Cities. MCDT's artistic activities and performances have been reported by leading local newspapers and TVs, and we have received excellent comments from the audience.

MCDT's 1997 annual performance with the theme Chinese Dance and Songs was particularly a success. We received congratulatory letters from Mayor Norm Coleman of St. Paul, May Sharon Belton of Minneapolis, and President Dennis Dease of University of St. Thomas. One of our audiences wrote, "Your performance was simply beautiful. The creative choreography, excellent performance, and colorful costumes, produced marvelous stage effects."

MCDT is now preparing for its 1998 annual concert with the theme Chinese Drum Dance, featuring 11 new dances, a pipa solo, and a small selection of our dance repertoire. We welcome you to our concert and enjoy the performance.

For your information, MCDT's 1998 annual concert shall be at 7:30 PM, Saturday, December 19, 1998, Brady Education Auditorium, University of St. Thomas. You may purchase tickets or receive information from:
