As a result of yesterday's (2/25/02) Public Outreach meeting the Serrano Creek Conservancy wrote, printed, and hand distributed a flier to the homes on Via Del Rio, Serrano Woods, and other streets backing to the creek. This flier notified the homeowners that brush clearing, and tree removal were to start today at 7:30 am. These crews will continue through the weekends until March 15th.

While the trees were being marked for removal yesterday Matt Rayl of the Serrano Creek Conservancy notified our contact at the Orange County Register, and due to our good relationship with them they were able to get an article printed in todays Local section. Please see page 3 under Lake Forest.

November/December 2001

Mitigation begins for Autumnwood Home Owners Association.

The Serrano Creek Conservancy, in partnership with Autumnwood HOA, Irvine Ranch Water District and Orange County has begun work to restore erosion damage threatening homes.

IRWD and Orange County are rebuilding the bank and protecting it with rock.

The Conservancy is taking on the task of providing mitigation for this project.

A habitat restoration expert has been retained for the onsite project and The Conservancy has begun one of the two offsite projects.

At the first site, a rock bank has been covered with soil, an irrigation system installed, and the first group of native California plants has been planted.

On December 18th, 2001, the Conservancy signs the four party agreement with the City of Lake Forest. The County of Orange and Orange County Flood Control signed the previous day.

On February 17, 2001 The Serrano Creek Conservancy and the The Kiwanis Club planted over 100 Live Oak and California Sycamore trees in the Serrano Creek Park in the City of Lake Forest, California. Volunteers from all over Orange County helped in the planting. The pictures below show some of the volunteers in action.
