The Science of Faith and Quantum TheoryBy
Teresa Carr Have you ever wondered how God can hear and answer millions of prayers simultaneously and instantly make His presence known in any place and at any time seems more like a fairy-tale than reality? Perhaps you will change your mind once you hear what serious scientists are saying about what happens at the quantum level of our material universe. This mystifying phenomenon is referred to as “quantum entanglement” or the “God effect.” It’s this science’s strangest phenomenon that many people in our modern day reject the Bible on the grounds that it’s not logical and is presented like historical fiction mingled with mythical legends. With the explosion of scientific knowledge these people leave little room for belief in a miracle-working God of the biblical accounts and His mighty works. If science is at odds with the stories of the Bible, what do you think of the idea of a God who can hear and answer millions of prayers simultaneously, who can raise the dead, and who can instantly make His presence known in any place in the universe seems more like fiction than reality? Would you change your mind what serious scientists are saying about what may occur at the quantum level of our material universe. Brian Clegg published in 2006, The God Effect: Quantum Entanglement, Science’s Strangest Phenomenon and explains that quantum entanglement occurs when two atomic particles become so linked together that they essentially form a single unit. Mysterious as it may seem this linkage is its apparent individualism, even when vast distances pull the two particles apart and are separated. When one particle changes, the change appears to be instantaneously reflected in the other particle, though the two particles may be trillions of miles apart. At the quantum level and under certain circumstances, information can be conveyed from one point to the other at speeds vastly greater than speed of light. While entanglement is still theoretically, the current data indicates that it is real. This means that the way is opening for some incredible advances in technology, including the development of quantum computers thousands of times more powerful than today’s models and possibly even teleportation devices capable of instantaneously transporting objects over great distances. This sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, or an episode from Quantum Leap or Star Trek where Captain Kirk transmits, “Beam me up, Scotty!” If serious scientists can communicate in regards of two ultra-tiny particles maintaining a mysterious link and responding to each other’s movements though they are many light years apart, it’s not hard to imagine that the One who designed those particles is capable of hearing our prayers. Thanks to God that the Quantum theory makes Bible stories seem much more believable! REF: Clegg, Brian. The God Effect: Quantum Entanglement, Science’s Strangest Phenomenon. St. Martin’s Press. 2006.
