Wisdom from the
Little Folk: The Ant, the Coney, the Locust, and the Spider by Teresa Carr To learn a little about ourselves and how we should live we should look at God’s creation and the smallest of his creatures. God sees the smallest as the greatest. God illustrates some of these little folk in Proverbs 30:24-28 as some of the wisest. There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; The conies are a feeble folk, yet make their houses in the rocks; The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces. Some of us are ant people, some are not. But the wisest ant knows that storing up for the coming winter is a good thing compared to those who do not plan and prepare for the future. Just like the summer your opportunities pass quickly. Winter always comes whether you’re ready or not. Remember the parable Christ told about the five foolish virgins who had no oil in their lamps and were excluded from the bridegroom’s wedding. When you’re not ready when your time comes, you’ll miss out. One important thing is to have patience to wait. ©2008. Teresa Carr. Skyhouse Communications &
