Which Bible Standard Do We
Live Up To? (Living the Life Christ
Wants Us to Live) A reader wrote a letter to the editor of the Reader’s Voice in the local newspaper, the Wednesday, July 16, 2008 issue on the subject, “Which Bible standard do we live up to?” It was in response to a letter a columnist wrote, “Will our society eventually fall like the Romans?” We are living in a crucial time in time that has been faced by each one of us how we are to live when we live in a world filled with immorality. Do we take it upon ourselves or do we look to a higher source for the answer? I will ask you this question. When you’re at a point in life when you don’t know all the answers anymore what would you do? Would you throw up your hands and let immorality continue to run rampant? Or, would you look to the source you know that could work if all else fails? We’re all human and we have limitations. We all have our faults and flaws. That would mean we need a more perfect solution to all our troubles. Right? When God gave the Ten Commandments, and all those laws and regulations to the Israelites there was no way possible for them or anyone for that matter to keep them all. When the time was right for Jesus Christ to come to earth to settle this matter once and for all the law was nailed to the cross with Him. Jesus became our sacrifice and sin offering through the blood He shed and still is to this day and will be forever. So “the standard” that we are to live is to live the life like Jesus lived. He lived a perfect and sinless life, as our example. He gave His life as a ransom for us and in return we give our lives to Him. His resurrection was a gift to deliver us from death and gain eternal life in Him. When we live our lives for Him everything else just falls into place. If we don’t live the life Jesus died to give us we’re all going to perish. God has to judge sin in this world that went on for centuries and all its injustice. That’s why Jesus came to save the world. All we have to do is make that choice. This earth is coming to a rapid close and it’s time to make a decision what you will do when time runs out. God will reclaim the earth that is His kingdom and His Son Jesus will rule this earth and us with Him. ©2008. Teresa Carr. Skyhouse Communications & Mega
