Synagogues of Eastern Europe

Before World War II there were thousands synagogues scattered throughout Eastern Europe. They represented an essential part of Jewish heritage and culture. Today only a small remnant remains. Of these but a handful have been restored. The words "never again" represent only part of the tragedy. We cannot allow the rich heritage of Jewish life in Eastern Europe to be erased or forgotten. These pictures of a "culture that once was" - is an attempt to preserve that heritage.
