A lucid dream is a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming. Frederik van Eeden conjured the word 'lucid' regarding a sense of intense mental clarity. Lucid dreaming occurs when you realize that what you are dreaming is not real. Lucid Dreaming can have positive effects on your psychological state of mind. Resulting in a calm, and stable concious life.
Anything is possible in a lucid dream. Dreamers can fly, and demonstrate heroic feats!! Lucid dreaming is easy to acheive. You just have to belive that you can.
This
is vital! Set up a dream journal, and write your dreams in it every morning
when you wake up. Writing your dreams will help you identify and remember
your dreams.
Say
to yourself "Next time I'm dreaming I will realize that I am dreaming".
To
become consciously aware during your dreams, Train your awareness during
the day. Look at your surroundings and stay completely aware of your environment.
Notice Colors sights sounds and smells.
Several
times throughout the day, ask yourself "Am I dreaming or awake?".
Sounds silly but this is extremely effective!! Ask yourself this
question about ten times a day.
After
five days examine your dream journal pick out your most common dream symbol.
For example, have you dreamt about swimming pools, the Ocean, and a Harbor?
If so, Water will be the common dream symbol for the week. Look for your
dream symbol throughout the day. Take notice of your symbol during your
concious state during the day.
While
falling asleep, repeatedly ask yourself, if you are dreaming yet.
If
you wake up during the night, get out of bed, drink some water and walk
around a bit. After about ten minutes, return to bed. many Avid Lucid dreamers
swear by this technique!!
