The language of the Hittites, considered one of the first Indo-European tongues, was written in a style called cuneiform, meaning wedge-shaped.  This style came from the Middle Eastern kingdoms of Mesopotamia, originating around 5000 BC.  The Hittites inhabited the region of present-day Turkey, formerly known as Anatolia.  Their civilization began towards the beginning of the second millennium BC.  To this date, as the Hittite language itself was not even deciphered until the early twentieth century, no relation has been found between the Hittite language and other Indo-European languages.  Thus, it has been listed as such on the language tree.  Here are some examples of cuneiform writing, similar to the writing of the Hittite language:
