Martin Denton Strikes Again!
Mood:  party time!
Last month--or was it two months ago--I attended a party celebrating the release of Plays and Playwrights 2006, Martin Denton's latest anthology of Off-Off-Broadway plays. In addition to the ten or so playscripts included in the book, Denton lists the productions of the 2004-05 season, including the Fringe Festival works, including Travis Tanner. I'm listed as the author, and DJ the director. Unfortunately, Robert was left out as composer. According to the listing--"by Melanie N. Lee"--you wouldn't know it was a musical. Perhaps because of my past correspondence with Denton, he was more aware of me than of Robert. Oh, well.

I arrived late to the party, but early enough to grab some food and to view most of the scenes from the published plays presented by the actors. My favorite scene was from THE EXPENSE OF SPIRIT by Josh Fox: a woman throws a Christmas Eve party in her video store, only to be interrupted by servicemen with news about her daughter, in the military in Iraq. I managed to meet the author and tell him that his was my favorite.

I also met Denton, who recognized me, during the party, and I met his mother, too.
