Mojo's Javelin Page!

As strange as it may sound, a signifigant part of my life has been spent in the pursuit of automotive related knowledge, culminating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and certification as a Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas.  Cars are still only a hobby, and I don't think I'll ever make a living doing something automotive related, but you never know.  All of the parts, materials, machining processes, etc. used in the construction of the Javelin are backed back sound engineering designs and principles.  If I don't explain a reason for using a particular part or material, ask me and I'll explain it completely of refer you to a text that will.

For reasons unknown, I chose the automotive path that led to AMC.  I owned a Chevy once - a Nova - it was the first V8 I ever built, and an excellent learning project.  I wrecked it with just 325 miles on the new engine.  The car was parted out, my insurance man said "no more V8's, kid", and I found myself a Gremlin.  The rest, as they say, is history.

I found the Javelin in 1984 in a vacant lot in Duluth, MN with 68172 miles on the odometer.  The car had a dealership sticker from Salina, KS, but the current owner told me they had found it in Wisconsin.  He was more than happy to take $100 and let me tow it home.  Best $100 I ever spent.
 

The car has been through a few different engines through the years, but all of them 258's.  The car was my daily transportation at college and even traveled to the east cost (1625 miles each way with no spare!) when I did my internships.  Now it serves as a street legal bracket racing vehicle and mobile test bed for performance parts and ideas specifically designed for AMC's mighty six-cylinder engine.
