Tylenol during the day and Motrin at night (Motrin last longer). Give them a cold, wet wash cloth to chew on.

There are no quick fixes. Think long term solutions. Children only behave in ways that work toward achieving their goals. If it doesn't work for them they won't do it. Try to figure out what they are trying to achieve and then steer them toward a behavior that is acceptable to you. (Ex: Whining: (calmly) "I can't understand your words when you make that noise." Don't forget that we can't always get what we want in life and everone needs to learn how to deal with disappointment. Sometimes all that needs to be said is " I can see you are really sad/angry/etc. You really wanted. . . "
