This page is the homepage of The Ghalib Society - a Ghalib email discussion group.
There are, posted regularly to this site, snippets of postings that have been made to the group - you can follow our discussions a little from here. However, we very much hope that you will decide to join in. Start a new line of discussion or join in one of those already in progress.
Why a Ghalib Society web site?
My hopes are that we can develop a corner of the internet dedicated to this great man who gave us horizons as wide as those that he could seefrom his ranch. The internet is truly international and it's fitting that we should be a diverse group - from the exalted scholars down to.... well,me!

December 27 - Ghalib's Birthdate
Ghalib was born on 27th December 1798, though some say, he was born a month later. To mark the date The Ghalib Society produces some tributes which is a compulsory for all the members (smile)

Who are we?
All sorts of people make up The Ghalib Society. We range from the scholarly
people to the enthusiast without any formal qualifications. We like to think
that Ghalib would have approved of our eclectic group and we welcome
ALL. Some of us have submitted mini biographies, detailing our particular
