Gina Hecht was born on December 6, 1953 in Winter Park, Florida. She is the daughter of Pauline Hecht, a theatrical actress.

In 1979, Hecht joined the cast of “Mork and Mindy” in its second season, playing Mindy’s friend, Jean Da Vinci, who was a medical student and owned a Delicatessen, and then an Italian Restaurant with her brother, Remo.

After the show’s third season, she was dropped from the cast. She went on to appear in films such as “Night Shift”, directed by Ron Howard, and had small roles in “St. Elmo's Fire” and “Edtv” and “Clockstoppers”.

She starred in three failed television series: “Hizzoner”, “Everything's Relative” and “Heartbeat” and was a recurring guest star on a number of other television series: “Life Goes On”, “Seinfeld”, “ER”, “The District”, and “Any Day Now”. She also appeared on shows such as “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “St. Elsewhere”, “L.A. Law”, “Blossom”, “Friends”, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “Will & Grace”, and “Strong Medicine”.

Gina is an avid poker player with many tournament wins under her belt. She played in the 2007 WPT Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino with the starting field of 500 including many poker professionals. Seventy players made it back for the second day and Gina was one of only six celebrities to return.

Hecht married Brian Herskowitz, a director, producer, and writer. They have two daughters.
