The Microsoft Tax
According to Jeff

Many of us have observed and known about the Microsoft tax for quite a while now. The Microsoft tax is the fee you pay when purchasing a personal computer for software you will never use. Microsoft charges PC manufacturers for Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS) and Microsoft Windows (Windows) installed on every PC manufactured. The PC manufacturers pass this charge along to customers. Customers who intend to use IBM OS/2 or BeOS or SCO or Solaris or BSD or Linux have paid this fee to Microsoft for software which was not wanted, was not ordered and was not used.

Microsoft Refund Day increased the public's awareness of the Microsoft tax, but did little to affect it. I have an idea for step two...  An agreement binds both parties...  Enforce the PC Manufacturer's Microsoft End User License Agreement in Small Claims Court.
