Al, Jessica, and others recently completed yet another successful cleanup on Saturday, March 3rd, 2001. Thanks to all those who participated! Sometime in early April we hope to clean up Wall Street and a local campground.

This weekend SEC and CSG will have succeeded in cleaning up the campgrounds at Giant City Campgrounds.

Sometime around April the CSG's will be sponsoring a joint protest of the FTAA (the Free Trade Area of the Americas)--an expansion of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) that will further expand the anti-labor and anti-environment economics (of which NAFTA is so reknown) to 34 out of the 35 countries in the western hemisphere of the Americas. Keep checking for updates concerning this important protest that will literally affect the lives of millions of workers and citizens as well as ecosystem of which we all belong!!

Join SEC and CSG in these other opportunities to care for our local habitat!!

Featured News: CORENE MCDANIELS

Corene McDaniels, our Campus Shawnee Green Party sponsored candidate for Carbondale City Council, won the Carbondale City Council primaries with a landslide victory of 686 votes, and again was victorious with 1,713 votes in the City Council Elections. Not only did she crush the two incumbants, but she did so with a margin of a 165 and 211 votes respectively! The Campus Shawnee Greens are exteremely proud of Corene, not simply because of her affiliation with us, but because she has shown what great spirit and dedication that she has for a better Carbondale, its students, citizens, and ecosystem. With extreme pride, CSG is proud to have canvassed for and stood in solidarity with Corene's amazing and far-reaching vision for our city.
It is with great anticpation that we look forward to working with Corene (and newly re-elected incumbant, Maggie Flannagan) to help make her popular mandate of city and student issues a reality for all citizens.
