The Campus Shawnee Greens is a Green Party USA local and a member of the Illinois Green Party. The Student Environmental Center is the oldest organization of the two, and consists of organizing solutions to environmental concerns in the Southern Illinois Bio-region.
The purpose of the CSG's is to promote Green politics on the SIU-C campus, and in the city of Carbondale itself.

CORENE MCDANIELS:

Corene has been a resident of southern Illinois for 34 years. She operates Corene's Hair Palace in Carbondale.
With a first place finish of 1,713 votes in the Carbondale City Council elections, Corene not only has what it takes to make a better Carbondale, but what it takes to make our city the BEST. We anticipate working with Corene to help beautify the city, improve police-citizen relations, implement a living-wage ordinance, provide financial benefits to local businesses first and to the mall second, and to assist her work with the students of SIU-C to increase their city involvement and to give them a representational voice within city matters.
