i just got out of surgery like three hours ago, i’m feeling sore now but i’m home the surgery itself took 13 minutes, half an hour for the anesthesia to kick in but there weren’t any beds open for after the surgery so they just decided to put more drugs in me so i’d stay asleep for another hour, what the hell ?

there’s something inherently violent in religion, the story i love best was a pitched battle between two different monasteries in early christian ireland over one side having sneaked out a copy of a hymn of the other side !

there were deaths in the battle and as a penance one of the monks responsible for the fracas  (i think he made the copy!)  had to go on missionary work to scotland, which was very heathen and life threatening at the time !

it was about 2pm and i had an hour until i was going to go do chores with the goats and alpacas, so i decided i could get the slow cooker going for dinner later on

first i put in this fat and gelatin from the goat i made several days, then a small tomato and some sunflower seed oil

half a long hot pepper, half a lemon’s juice and then a quarter of the squeezed rind  (taking it out later)

i grabbed green beans, rutabaga, radish and its greens out of the fridge along with about half a carton of beef broth

salt, pepper, there was probably a tiny amount of curry powder from the fat and gelatin

i let that slow cook for four and a half hours while i was working, then i got home and let it reduce for about forty minutes

the sauce was delicious and of course when cooked for that long it just infuses with the vegetables

restaurants just don’t step on that level

update :  my stomach is acting up, i think it’s partly due to the fact that i ate later than usual, ate too much, and i did top with a very decent helping of sour cream

the stomach acting up is very significant and i will give you my thoughts as to why !

1.  its difficult to get some vegetables cooked the necessary amount when they are all bundled togeher, for instance i only ever find rutabaga is adequately cooked if done for a considerable while in a pressure cooker

so imo you want to at least precook the rutabuga so that it cooks to become quite soft in the slow cooking phase !

2.  gelatine/broth is always a bit tricky because it is a biofilm feeder, my latest theory is just to drink some away from meals !

3.  sour cream has a live bacterial culture in, so not knowing what that culture is and how free of ecoli and other  “ not wanteds ” it is, you really have to try different brands to see what is the least problematic, OR you can simply mix in the cream to the food in the slow cooker just before serving so that it reaches a parturization temperaure of about  68°C/155°F

4.  eating too late is a problem, particularly heavy food like a dinner and also taking vitamin D too late reduces immune response in the stomach overnight which is not what you want to happen !

5.  i cook and eat a lot of onion now and use chili peppers as my main spice !!

6.  for a meal like that i would have used the houston enzymes :  no fenol, zyme prime and the AFP-peptizyde

7.  in australia there is a very strong tendency for restaurants to undercook vegetables as somehow being healthier !

8.  i don’t know about adding oil either, i usually add some double cream, i may fry onions in olive oil, but i have poor bile flow and cope with fats and oils worse than most, double cream is a more easily digestible fat !

since you keep making that suggestion to one almost at retirement age with no history of mental illness at all and that’s literally about the 400th time you make that then i have to conclude you are insane and its really coming home to me that you are !

I have missed one sitting and I could actually feel the difference.  It took me a while longer to get focused and concentrated.  A lot of emotions are coming up and having a safe space to sit with those.  What really surprises me that memories from childhood, really obscure ones come up.  For example, I vividly remembering in my Jr High class my teacher Mrs. Parker explaining a bunch of torture methods.  This all came out at once and had no idea I was holding this stuff with me.
