i have looked at poes poem "the raven" occasionally since a teenager, but it never really clicked till today when i looked up pallas who was the greek goddess of wisdom and protector of athens (dunno how wise she can be having a job like that!)

"And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door"

the "nevermore" is of course wisdom
